Inspiring Our Children

by Marlene Fetcher | LDS Homeschool Conference 2014

At the age of 16, Marlene found herself living on her own, emancipated from her abusive parents and working three jobs while trying to finish high school. With little healthy family experience or role models, she set her sights on a career and earned several insurance licenses within 6 months of graduating. Then she found the LDS Church. Family (and especially children) became her focus.

With a son diagnosed with “High Functioning Autism” (Asperger’s Syndrome today) and another with several health concerns from Type I Diabetes to Celiac Disease, Marlene found the one-size-fits-all approach to learning very confining and less than ideal. She realized that each of her children were unique, requiring different approaches to learning. … Join her as she shares ideas and tips along with personal experiences that helped (and are still helping) create a love of learning in her home. These simple truths will enrich your relationship with your children as they gain confidence and discover their vast potential.

Together with my eternal sweetheart, Matthew Fletcher, we are raising 4 wonderful sons in Orem, UT. I have served on the Executive PTA board and was the director of r.a.d.Kids (child safety empowerment program) at my children’s school. I taught preschool for 5 years and I am currently homeschooling.. I have earned several licenses including Property/Casualty, Life & Health Insurance, Series 6 & 63 in the Financial Industry, Massage Therapist & Structural Integration License. Currently I own my own business and am a wellness consultant, specializing in massage therapy. I have been a guest speaker at Women’s Conference in 1996 at BYU. I enjoy reading and spending time with my family.
