More than Warm Fuzzies

by Sarah Felt | LDS Homeschool Conference 2014

Are you looking for ways to teach your child how to recognize and hearken to the voice of the Holy Spirit that extends beyond the well known analogy of a warm fuzzy blanket? Do you find yourself struggling to identify the Holy Spirit in your own life? The Holy Spirit is a still small voice, so just how do we learn to “hear” it? We “see” it’s fruits! The world says that ‘hindsight is 20/20’. The Lord says “wherefore, dispute not because ye see not, for ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith.” (Ether 12:6) Come learn just what the Fruits of the Spirit are and how to teach your children to identify the workings of the Spirit in their own lives by identifying the evidence or fruits the Spirit leaves behind. This presentation will give you practical and easily applicable ideas to use right away, both in your homeschool teaching and in your everyday moments.

Raised in Georgia as the daughter of 2 converts, my parents passed on a love of God and a love of learning in my heart from a young age. Moving across the continent to California, I met the love of my life and have been married for over 17 years. Education brought us to Utah along with a few more additions. We are the proud homeschooling parents of 7 children (one just about to graduate homeschool and currently in college), plus an exchange student or two, off and on. I graduated while pregnant with my 3rd child with an A.S. Degree in Integrated Studies from UVU and currently work part time as a Local Coordinator for C.I.E.E., supervising and connecting host families and exchange students. I am also the Founder of Zion Preparatory Family Community (ZPFC), L.H.E.G., and Little Veshi. In my spare time, I love to garden, hike, camp, research everything, study everything, do anything with my family, serve in the church, and create. But mostly, I’m just spinning my plates and tossing in one starfish at a time.
